Mostly, we are told that some widely accepted practice must be good because all those people who are doing it can’t be wrong. Young Christian sometimes tell their guardians, “all my friends are doing it!” with the intention to suit the world. The question we should ask ourselves is, “should we do it because everyone else does it?”. Is the voice of God the voice of the majority? Or should we democratize religious doctrines and believes to outfit the majority’s needs because our government leads us to think the majority is right? In Isaiah Bibles says:
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Isaiah 55:8-9
From the verse above, it is clear that God does not think like men think, even if all the men of the world gathered up to think a practice is good, that does not necessarily prove God thinks it is good. The ways of God cannot be determined from people’s perception, but it is revealed in is words. In (2 Timothy 3: 16-17, KJV) the bible says “all scriptures are given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” This is because the ways of God are prescribed in the Bible to direct your decisions and show you the way of God. Thus, it’s not necessarily what the bishop says, what a prophet says, what the government says but everything to be compared to the word of God. If it’s not the word of God then it is not the will of God, even if it carries the highest rank of moral value or it is ethically right that doesn’t justify it to be right.
God is not the author of confusion to say something today and change tomorrow (1 Corinthians 14:33), any twisted gospel or doctrine that any preacher or leader can come up with is not inspired by God.

Things you should remember:
1 The majority is not always correct
If you’re fond of the Bible stories you might have come across the story of Noah’s. In his days God sent His words to people, revealing His plans to destroy the world to them through Noah and asking them to enter the boat before His wrath came to the world. But in that time, the majority refused to follow the way of God and called it foolishness. When the appointed time of destruction came, they were all flooded and destroyed by heavy rains, and only eight people were saved (Genesis 6:5-8). Was the majority, right?
Probably you come across the story of prophet Elijah who stood alone facing 450 prophets of Baal in proving a true God. Was the majority right then?
Should we agree regarding those people who crucified Jesus, that all those people can’t be wrong? No.
Majority of the people since ancient history it has never been correct in religious context because the mysteries of God are known by minority and the devil blind many to not see the truth of God. Thereby, making the majority of people to miss the right path.
2 Know the word of God for yourself
The kingdom of God is individual and each person is required to make every effort to enter into the narrow gate. The bible says in (Matthew 7:13-14, KJV) “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” If its few who find it and does an effort to enter through the narrow gate, then it should be your obligation to know the word for yourself because many are lost through the teachers of religious philosophy and human doctrines. Thus, the bible recommends that “you see to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principle of the world, rather than according to Christ” (Colossians 2:8). The only way you could see to it and not be enslaved by the will of the majority of people in this world is by knowing the teaching of God for yourself.
Do not wait for anyone to show you the holy scriptures, seek God in His words for yourself and he shall reveal the truth to you.

3 God punishes the wicked
God is not a respecter of a person (Romans 2:11, KJV), when people do not obey His ways and teach, even if they constitute the majority of the world, He will destroy them. He has done it before, in the time of Noah, in Sodom and Gomora, and nothing can stop Him from doing it again. He only does favor the few that obey His ways. Thus, we shouldn’t follow the majority of the people in a wrong practice because the wrath of God descends upon the evil doers.
The only way you can escape the wrath of God in this world is by obeying and following God’s ways.

4 God ways are the final
Do you have to compromise your standard because everyone else does it? No. The bible recommends that we do not get conformed to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by renewing our minds. Thereby, being able to test and approve what is good and acceptable to God (Romans 12:2). The ways of God should be the final indicators of each believer who await the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and who keep faith in the rupture. We living in a perverted generation where people act corruptly and immoral but we have to stand as a lamp in the midst of darkness (Philippians 2: 15) and the Lord Jesus Christ is the source of our light.
